Soy

Yanitzia Canetti is a Cuban author who currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Havana, in Cuba, a Master's degree in Linguistics, and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature. She has published over 100 books (novels, poetry, short stories, theater, and children's literature) mostly for children and young adults.
  
Fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, she has translated more than 200 titles for children. Her translations include American classics in children's literature, such as Dr. Seuss, The Berenstein Bears, Amelia Bedelia, Curious George, and others.
  
Canetti has won many awards for her work, including the White Rose Literature Award (Best Literature of the Year, Cuba) 1994; the National Literature Award (Ministry of Education, Cuba), consecutively in 1984, 1985, 1986; Honorable Mention in Journalism (National Association of Hispanic Publications, California) 1997; Most Influential Hispanic 2004 (Hispanic Image Magazine); and Best Illustrated Book, given in Spain (2000) for her book "Completely Different", among others.
  
In addition to her writing achievements, she has participated in 15 national and international photography exhibitions in Mexico, Italy, Spain, and Denmark. Her work is now part of the permanent collections in many of these galleries worldwide.
  
Yanitzia Canetti currently lives with her husband and two children, Ares and Eros. She has worked many years as the Editorial Director of Cambridge BrickHouse, Inc.
